In this Workshop we will work with the technique of coil building and pinching to create beautiful shapes and vessels such as teapots or moonjars, guided by Kiho Kang’s expertise. Open to anyone, regardless of previous knowledge or skills, even though a little clay experience could be useful.
Kiho Kang makes functional geometric vessels and objects by coil building and pinching each piece slowly step by step, a method that lead him to a more deliberate way of working with the material, giving each piece a special haptic quality. The simplicity and texture in his pieces displays the time and craftsmanship that has gone into their making.
There will be a lunch option on Saturday with amazing Korean food from Sunbap.
STEPS
After drying for 10 days the pieces will be fired and then final glazed with a transparent layer by us and fired once again before you can hold them in your hands.
